Mgr. Janvier Marie Gustave Yameogo, born on September 19, 1962, in Koudougou, Burkina Faso, is a prominent figure in the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communications. He was granted the title of Prelate of His Holiness in 2018 and has been with the Theological and Pastoral Department since October 2016. Prior to this, he served in the French-speaking sector and Africa at the Pontifical Council for Social Communications from 2006 to 2016. From 1999 to 2006, he served as the Diocesan communications director in Koudougou, Burkina Faso, and simultaneously founded and chaired various organizations such as COOPEC-GALOR, ARCB and ACK. He possesses an extensive background in teaching and communication and holds a Master’s degree in Theology from the Institut Catholique de Toulouse, where he also lectured on African religions and traditions. Mgr. Yameogo is multilingual, fluent in French, English, and Italian, with Moore as his mother tongue. His diverse interests include cinema and theater, and he has a strong affinity for the Pan-African Film Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO).
