Vittorio Giacci, born on August 30, 1943, in Salsomaggiore Terme, is a renowned Italian film critic, director, screenwriter, artistic director, and musician. After earning a Law degree from the University of Milan, Giacci embarked on a distinguished career in the film industry, where he held prominent roles, including leading prestigious institutions like Cinecittà International and the "Istituzione Roberto Rossellini." He has been a key figure in the promotion, restoration, and analysis of Italian cinema, contributing to the restoration of iconic films by directors such as Federico Fellini, Roberto Rossellini, and Michelangelo Antonioni. Giacci has directed several documentaries, including Mi mancherai. Ricordo di Sandro Pertini, which won the Gianni Di Venanzo Award. As a screenwriter, he collaborated with notable directors like Alberto Lattuada and Carlo Lizzani. Additionally, Giacci has authored numerous books and essays on cinema and has been honored with multiple awards, including the prestigious Globo d'oro for his documentary The Earth: Our Home.
